CARVER COUNTY MN: A 76-year-old man has been charged in Carver County with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child under the age of 14, according to a criminal complaint.

Wayne Guido Mueller, born September 11, 1949, is identified as the defendant in the case.

According to the criminal complaint, both charges stem from alleged conduct that occurred on or about April 17, 2026, in Carver County. The complaint alleges that Mueller engaged in sexual contact with a child under the age of 14 and that he was more than 36 months older than the alleged victim at the time of the incident.

According to the complaint, the defendant was interviewed by investigators and denied the allegations. The complaint further states that when presented with a still image obtained from video recordings, the defendant said he did not recall the incident depicted.

Each count is filed under Minnesota Statute 609.343.1a(e), which prohibits sexual contact with a person under 14 when the actor is more than 36 months older. The offense is classified as a felony.

If convicted, each charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 25 years in prison, a $35,000 fine, or both.

Mueller is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
