APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - A 33-year-old woman was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic following a two-vehicle crash that caused one vehicle to roll over near the intersection of McAndrews Road and the northbound Cedar Avenue (Highway 77) entrance ramp in Apple Valley on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

According to a crash report obtained by Limitless Media News from the Apple Valley Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 6:58 a.m. and involved two Mazda CX-5 SUVs. Despite the rollover and significant damage to both vehicles, neither driver was reported injured.

Crash Occurred During Left Turn Onto Cedar Avenue Ramp

According to the police report, a 33-year-old woman from Apple Valley was driving a white 2017 Mazda CX-5 eastbound on McAndrews Road, approaching the entrance ramp to northbound Cedar Avenue. At the same time, a 51-year-old man from Apple Valley was traveling westbound on McAndrews Road in a blue 2019 Mazda CX-5, just east of the ramp entrance.

Investigators determined that the woman attempted to make a left turn from eastbound McAndrews Road onto the northbound Cedar Avenue entrance ramp. While making the turn, she failed to yield to the oncoming westbound Mazda, causing the two vehicles to collide. The impact caused the woman's SUV to roll over. The crash report identifies the collision as an angle-type crash and lists failure to yield the right-of-way as the contributing factor for the driver of the 2017 Mazda.

Driver Acknowledged Responsibility, Police Say

According to the responding officer's narrative, the 33-year-old driver acknowledged that she had failed to yield to oncoming traffic and accepted responsibility for the collision. The officer documented that the driver admitted the crash was her fault.

Following the investigation, the woman was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The report does not identify any contributing action by the 51-year-old driver of the westbound Mazda. Investigators also indicated that neither driver was speeding at the time of the collision.

Both Vehicles Sustained Disabling Damage

The crash caused substantial damage to both SUVs, requiring investigators to remove both vehicles from the scene.

According to the report:

  • 2017 Mazda CX-5: Sustained severe, disabling damage following the collision and rollover. The vehicle's side airbags deployed.

  • 2019 Mazda CX-5: Sustained moderate, disabling front-end damage. The vehicle's front airbags deployed.

Dick's Valley Services towed both vehicles from the scene. The crash report indicates that neither driver suffered any apparent injuries. Neither was reported transported to a hospital.

The 51-year-old driver was documented as wearing a lap-and-shoulder seat belt at the time of the collision. The report lists the restraint information for the 33-year-old driver as unknown.

Rain and Wet Road Conditions Reported

The crash occurred during rainy weather, with wet pavement reported at the intersection. According to the police report, conditions included rain, wet road surfaces, and daylight. Although investigators documented the weather and roadway conditions, they did not identify either as a contributing factor in the crash.

The report also indicates that no road construction or work-zone activity was present near the crash location. Neither driver was identified as having an apparent impairment involving drugs or alcohol.

No fatalities or injuries were reported, and investigators issued a traffic citation to the 33-year-old driver.
