Three Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at McAndrews and Galaxie last Friday

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Three people sustained minor injuries Friday afternoon, August 29, 2025, following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of McAndrews Road and Galaxie Avenue in Apple Valley, according to a Minnesota Motor Vehicle Crash Report filed by the Apple Valley Police Department.

Crash Details

The collision occurred around 12:24 p.m. when a 65-year-old Apple Valley woman driving a silver 2022 Ford Escape attempted a left turn from northbound Galaxie Avenue onto westbound McAndrews Road. At the same time, an 18-year-old man from Eagan was traveling southbound on Galaxie in a white 2014 Honda Accord with one passenger.

The report states that the Ford Escape’s rear axle and wheel assembly were torn from the vehicle during the impact, landing roughly 60 feet away on the southbound shoulder of Galaxie Avenue. The Honda Accord sustained severe front-end damage and came to rest more than 1,000 feet beyond the intersection in the roadway’s center.

Conflicting Accounts and Video Evidence

Initial statements from the drivers and a witness conflicted. The Ford driver told officers she turned on a yellow arrow and did not recall the exact moment of impact. The Honda driver claimed he had a yellow light when the SUV turned in front of him. A witness reported seeing the eastbound McAndrews signal turn green and believed the Honda had run a red light.

However, the investigation was amended the following day after video evidence was obtained. Footage showed the Ford SUV initiated its left-hand turn as the northbound Galaxie signal shifted from green to yellow. At the same time, the Honda sedan approached the intersection at what appeared to be a high rate of speed above the posted 45 mph limit. The video also showed the Honda driver braking and swerving just before entering the intersection, while the SUV driver appeared to apply her brakes during the turn.

Injuries and Emergency Response

All three individuals, the SUV driver, the Honda driver, and his passenger, complained of minor injuries. Apple Valley Police reported that Allina EMS assessed all parties at the scene, but none were transported to the hospital. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, and all occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Both vehicles were disabled and towed from the scene by Dick’s Valley Service. No citations were issued following the investigation, and the police indicated that no further action would be taken.

Community Impact

The crash briefly disrupted traffic in the areas for traffic wanting to go eastbound on McAndrews and southbound on Galaxie through the intersection. Traffic westbound on McAndrews and northbound on Galaxie was taken down to one lane.
