Man Accused of Stealing Over $7,000 in Trading Cards From Target
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - A 31-year-old man is facing felony theft charges after police say he attempted to steal thousands of dollars’ worth of trading cards from Target in Apple Valley earlier this month.
According to a criminal complaint, on August 10, 2025, law enforcement was dispatched to Target, located off Cedar Avenue, for a reported theft in progress. The reporting party told officers a man had filled a shopping cart with trading cards and left the store without making any attempt to pay.
Responding officers located the suspect, later identified as Justin Allen Ackerman, in a nearby parking lot with a cart still loaded with trading cards. When confronted, Ackerman allegedly told officers, “liquidation,” before attempting to run away. He was quickly detained.
The total value of the stolen merchandise was estimated at $7,280, according to the complaint.
Ackerman has been charged with Theft (Over $5,000), a felony offense. According to court documents, the prosecution requested that bail be set at $10,000 without conditions and $6,000 with conditions. It appears Ackerman was released from Dakota County Jail with conditions.
This information is based on a criminal complaint, which is not evidence of guilt. The Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
