Brooklyn Park Police Form Task Force After Armed Home Invasion and Sexual Assault

BROOKLYN PARK: Brooklyn Park police have created a dedicated task force following an armed home invasion and sexual assault Wednesday morning, marking the second violent break-in and sexual assault reported in the city within the past week.
According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:30 a.m. on July 22 to the 7500 block of Jersey Avenue North after receiving a report of an assault.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 5:30 a.m., a suspect entered a residence, allegedly held a handgun to the victim's head, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the area prior to the 911 call.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male wearing a balaclava, with medium-length dreadlocks visible from the mask.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
In response to the incident, the Brooklyn Park Police Department has established a task force focused on identifying and apprehending the suspect. Investigators are asking residents to assist by reviewing home security camera footage for any suspicious activity or individuals seen in their neighborhoods during the past week.
