Brooklyn Park Man Charged After Alleged Nonconsensual Contact Involving Two People at Walgreens

BROOKYLN PARK: A Brooklyn Park man is facing two gross misdemeanor charges after prosecutors allege he engaged in nonconsensual sexual contact involving two people at a Walgreens store.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, Jason Maurice Sweeney, 46, has been charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct – nonconsensual sexual contact. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and/or a $3,000 fine if convicted.
According to the complaint, Brooklyn Park police interviewed Sweeney on July 21, 2026, while he was being held at the Hennepin County Jail in connection with a separate burglary investigation. During the interview, investigators allege Sweeney admitted to inappropriately touching both a store employee and a customer at a Walgreens in Brooklyn Park before his arrest.
Investigators then reviewed surveillance video from the Walgreens, which the complaint alleges showed Sweeney approaching a checkout area where an employee was assisting a customer. Prosecutors allege the video depicts Sweeney making unwanted physical contact with the customer before the employee intervened and instructed him to leave the area.
According to the complaint, Sweeney then allegedly moved behind the checkout counter and made similar unwanted contact with the employee. The employee reportedly had Sweeney escorted from the store following the incident.
The alleged victims are not identified in the complaint.
Sweeney remains in custody at the Hennepin County Jail, according to the court filing.
