BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA – A Minneapolis man has been charged with felony theft after prosecutors allege he put on a high-visibility vest, entered a Burnsville Costco and attempted to leave the store with nearly $9,600 worth of gaming computers without paying.
Christopher Michael Good, 47, was charged Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Dakota County District Court with one count of felony theft involving property valued at more than $5,000. The charge stems from an alleged theft at the Costco located at 14050 Burnhaven Drive in Burnsville on August 12, 2026.
According to the criminal complaint, a Burnsville Police Department officer was dispatched to the store on Aug. 14 to investigate a theft that had occurred two days earlier.
Man Put On High-Visibility Vest Before Entering Store
Court documents allege Good was dropped off in front of Costco on Aug. 12 and entered the store's front vestibule. Prosecutors say Good approached a shed used by Costco employees to store items and removed a high-visibility vest. He allegedly put on the vest before entering the main portion of the store with a shopping cart.
According to the complaint, Good then went to an area containing computers and gaming equipment and selected three Aegis MSI gaming computers. Court documents list each computer as valued at $3,199.99. Good allegedly placed all three computers in his cart and left the store without attempting to pay.
Employees Confronted Suspect
Costco employees confronted Good as he was leaving the store, according to the complaint. Prosecutors allege Good then left the shopping cart containing the three computers behind and walked away from the property. The high-visibility vest was also allegedly abandoned in the parking lot.
The three computers had a combined value of $9,599.97.
The complaint charges Good with theft for allegedly intentionally taking or possessing property belonging to another person without consent and with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of the property.
Felony Charge Filed
Good faces one count of theft involving property valued at more than $5,000, a felony under Minnesota law. The charge carries a maximum potential sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $20,000, or both. Any sentence would ultimately be determined by the court if Good is convicted.
The case was filed in Dakota County District Court on October 7, 2026. Good has been summoned to appear in court for the first time at 9 a.m. on November 17, 2026, in Hastings, Minnesota. The criminal complaint contains allegations. Good is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
