BURNSVILLE, MN - A 43-year-old Burnsville man is facing a felony charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct following an investigation into alleged sexual assault involving a child under the age of 12 at a local residence.
Shane Artavious Williams was charged in Dakota County District Court with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under 14 years of age where the actor is more than 36 months older than the victim, pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 609.342, subd. 1a(e). Under Minnesota law, a first-degree charge involves alleged sexual penetration. According to the criminal complaint, officers with the Burnsville Police Department responded on Oct. 24, 2026, to a report of sexual abuse. Law enforcement spoke with the victim's parent, identified in court documents as Party 1, who reported that Williams had been staying at her Burnsville residence.
The complaint states that the alleged sexual assaults occurred between Aug. 1, 2026, and Oct. 22, 2026. According to the complaint, the juvenile victim told investigators that the sexual assault had occurred multiple times and provided specific details regarding varying locations where the incidents took place. The complaint further notes allegations that a weapon was used during the offenses.
Criminal complaints contain allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
