Serious Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Highway 3 in Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK, MINNESOTA – Emergency crews responded to a serious crash Friday morning, February 6, 2026, at the intersection of Highway 3 (Chippendale Avenue) and County Road 86 (280th Street West) in the city of Castle Rock, Minnesota in Dakota County.

Authorities were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:35 a.m. after reports of a serious crash in the area. The response included the Dakota County Sheriff's Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Northfield Medics, Randolph-Hampton Fire, and, due to the severity of the crash, North Aircare was also launched to the scene. According to officials, Highway 3 was closed in the immediate area to allow a medical helicopter to land, while emergency operations were underway.

The Minnesota State Patrol confirmed they are investigating a multi-vehicle crash, but as of this report, officials have not released details on the cause, the number of vehicles involved, or the number and severity of injuries.

As of the time of writing this story, the roadway remained closed as crews continue to investigate the crash and clear the scene. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect delays, and to use alternate routes if possible.
