Serious Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Highway 3 in Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK, MINNESOTA – New information released by the Minnesota State Patrol sheds light on the serious crash that shut down Highway 3 Friday morning, February 6, 2026.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 3 (Chippendale Avenue) and County Road 86 / 280th Street West. According to investigators, a semi-truck traveling eastbound on 280th Street entered the intersection and struck a Ford F-150 that was traveling northbound on Highway 3.

A family member has told us that the victim in this crash is alright. He is talking and awake, but is pretty cut up.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Dakota County Sheriff's Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Randolph-Hampton Fire, Northfield Medics, and North Aircare. Due to the seriousness of the crash and the need for medical transport, Highway 3 was temporarily shut down to allow a medical helicopter to land.
The roadway was closed for an extended period of time while emergency crews investigated the crash and cleared debris from the intersection. The Minnesota State Patrol took the lead in the investigation of the incident. According to the State Patrol, no citations have been issued at this time, but the investigation into this crash is still ongoing.
