Crash on Cedar Avenue; Two Flee the Scene and are Taken Into Custody

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound Cedar Avenue (Highway 77) just north of Palomino Drive Friday morning. Two individuals fled the scene of the crash on foot, prompting a police search in the area.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, and involved a coordinated response from the Apple Valley Fire Department, Apple Valley Police Department, MnDOT FIRST, and the Minnesota State Patrol. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, an Infiniti G35 collided with a Nissan Murano after the Infiniti had spun out and lost control. Following the crash, the two occupants in the Nissan Murano immediately fled the scene on foot.
Multiple agencies, including Eagan Police, Bloomington Police, and Minnesota State Patrol, were called to assist with the search effort. Authorities focused their search in the Cedar Knolls neighborhood near 125th Street West and Geneva Way, where the individuals were ultimately located and taken into custody without incident. State Patrol reports that 19-year-old Anthony Carrillo of Apple Valley was cited for careless driving, no insurance, hit and run, and underage drinking and driving.
According to the State Patrol, both occupants of the Nissan Murano and the driver of the Infiniti suffered possible injuries, but the extent of those injuries was not disclosed. The Minnesota State Patrol said the investigation is still active and ongoing.
Motorists experienced significant delays during the morning commute as authorities worked to investigate the crash and locate the fleeing individuals.
