Chaska Police Warn Against ‘Urban Exploring’ at Former Oak Ridge Hotel

CHASKA: Chaska police are warning people to stay out of the former Oak Ridge Hotel & Conference Center after officers responded to another trespassing complaint at the property Thursday afternoon.
Police said building security staff reported seeing two young men inside the facility through live surveillance cameras on Aug. 6.
According to police, officers have responded to more than 100 calls at the property over the past few years, including reports involving burglary, trespassing, property damage and other criminal activity.
Police emphasized that the building is private property and is not abandoned or open to the public. The property is actively monitored by live surveillance cameras.
“If you enter this building, you will be identified, located and you will be charged,” police said, noting that circumstances could result in allegations of burglary, trespassing or criminal damage to property.
Police also warned that entering buildings that are not actively maintained can pose serious safety hazards, including deteriorating structures, broken glass, exposed wiring, poor air quality and a lack of lighting.
The department urged people not to enter the property for so-called “urban exploring” or social media content.
“A burglary charge is a bad trade for ‘cool’ social media content,” police said.
