Cottage Grove Police Warn Residents About Increase in E-Bike Thefts

COTTAGE GROVE MN: The Cottage Grove Police Department is alerting residents after seeing a recent increase in e-bike thefts in the area.
Police say these high-value bikes can be quick targets for thieves and are encouraging residents to take simple steps to help protect their property.
To reduce the risk of theft, officers recommend the following:
Keep garage doors closed at all times.
Double-check that garage service doors and shed doors are shut and locked.
Write down your bike’s serial number now. If a bike is stolen and later recovered, the serial number is the best way for police to identify it and return it to the owner.
Be aware of your surroundings when arriving home and report any suspicious activity.
Police say staying vigilant and securing property can help prevent thefts and keep the community safe.
“Lock it up, stay vigilant, and let’s keep our neighborhood safe,” the department said.
