Driver Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Four-Vehicle Crash on I-494 in Eden Prairie
EDEN PRAIRIE: A 55-year-old Sunfish Lake man suffered life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon after the vehicle he was driving lost control on Interstate 494 in Eden Prairie and collided with three other vehicles, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash happened around 4:27 p.m. Monday, August 17, on westbound I-494 at Flying Cloud Drive.
According to the State Patrol crash report, a 2024 Mercedes AMG GT was traveling on the left shoulder of westbound I-494 when the driver lost control. The Mercedes entered the traffic lanes and collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado, a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse and a 2026 Honda Pilot.
The 55-year-old driver of the Mercedes suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment. His name is being withheld in this report.
The State Patrol listed road conditions as dry at the time of the crash. The Mercedes' airbags deployed, while the driver's seat belt use was listed as unknown.
The crash remains under investigation. The State Patrol listed whether alcohol was involved as pending.
