EAGAN, MINNESOTA— A 24-year-old Eagan man is facing two first-degree felony drug charges after investigators say they recovered more than a pound of fentanyl and additional evidence of drug sales during the execution of a search warrant at his residence.
According to a criminal complaint filed January 16, 2026, Dwan Lamar Stowers Jr., is charged in Dakota County District Court with Controlled Substance Crime in the First Degree — Sale and Controlled Substance Crime in the First Degree — Possession, both involving heroin or fentanyl in quantities exceeding 100 grams or 500 dosage units.
Search Warrant and Investigation
The charges stem from a January 15, 2026, investigation conducted by the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force, with assistance from local law enforcement. Investigators executed a search warrant at Stowers’ residence in the 4700 block of Lund Point in Eagan, located in Dakota County.
Prior to executing the warrant, agents conducted surveillance and observed Stowers coming and going from the residence. Investigators reported that only Stowers and a family member were seen at the home during surveillance. When the warrant was executed at approximately 9:28 a.m., Stowers was detained at the residence, and no other individuals were present.
Stowers told investigators that he lived at the home with his mother and identified his bedroom as the one decorated with Green Bay Packers memorabilia.

Evidence Recovered
During a search of the Packers-themed bedroom, agents reported finding numerous items commonly associated with drug distribution, including:
Plastic baggies
Latex gloves
A digital scale
A scoop spoon
Mail and documents addressed to Stowers
Investigators also located a duffel bag in the bedroom closet. Inside the bag was a garbage bag containing a vacuum-sealed package with multiple individually packaged bindles of powder. Field tests on samples from various packages were positive for fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance.
Authorities estimate the total weight of the fentanyl mixture at approximately 569 grams, or about 1.25 pounds, including a small amount of packaging.
In another bedroom, agents found a backpack Stowers had been wearing the previous day. Inside the backpack was a glass jar containing suspected THC wax weighing approximately 180.8 grams. Investigators also recovered $570 in U.S. currency from a desk drawer.
Charges and Potential Penalties
Stowers is charged with:
Count I: First-Degree Controlled Substance Crime — Sale (Heroin or Fentanyl), involving 100 or more grams or 500 or more dosage units
Count II: First-Degree Controlled Substance Crime — Possession (Heroin or Fentanyl), involving 100 or more grams or 500 or more dosage units
Each charge carries a potential sentence of 65 months to 40 years in prison and fines of $300,000 to $1,000,000 under Minnesota law.
Court records note that Count I carries a non-waivable prison sentence, meaning incarceration is mandatory if the defendant is convicted.
Bail Decision
Prosecutors initially requested bail of $100,000 without conditions or $80,000 with conditions, citing the large quantity of fentanyl recovered and the extreme danger the drug poses to the public. Although court documents state Stowers does not appear to have a significant prior criminal history, prosecutors emphasized that even small amounts of fentanyl can be fatal.
Following a court appearance, a judge ordered that Stowers’ bail be set at $100,000 bail with no conditions, or $50,000 bail with conditions.
Conditions of release include remaining in Minnesota unless granted court approval, participating in a pretrial release program, submitting to random chemical testing, abstaining from alcohol and controlled substances, possessing no firearms or weapons, remaining law-abiding, and making all future court appearances. Court records show that Stowers did post the $50,000 bail.
