FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA - A serious injury crash involving a passenger vehicle and a box truck shut down a section of Highway 3 in Farmington early Monday morning.
According to initial reports, the crash occurred at approximately 6:55 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, on Highway 3 (Chippendale Avenue), just south of 170th Street. Preliminary details from the Minnesota State Patrol indicate that a Honda vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 3 when it collided head-on with a northbound box truck in the same area. The circumstances leading up to the collision have not yet been released. Officials confirmed that serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash. The number of injuries and the condition of those involved have not been publicly disclosed.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office reported that Highway 3 is closed between 170th Street and 190th Street, from roundabout to roundabout, while emergency crews respond and investigators work the scene. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, Farmington Fire Department, Allina Health, and the Minnesota State Patrol. The State Patrol remains on scene and is leading the investigation.
