UPDATE: 14-Year-Old Dies After Late-Night Shooting at Glen at Burnsville

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - Burnsville police have confirmed that a teenager has died following a shooting late Monday night at the Glen at Burnsville Apartments.
According to a statement released by the Burnsville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Glen Apartments, located at 13000 Harriet Avenue South, at approximately 10:33 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, after receiving a report of a shooting
When officers and paramedics arrived, they located a 14-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds inside the building’s lobby area. Life-saving measures were immediately performed at the scene, and the victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). Despite those efforts, authorities said the teen later died from his injuries. The deceased has not yet been identified.
In response to the incident, a temporary shelter-in-place order was issued around 11:35 p.m. for residents near Harriet Avenue South and Burnsville Parkway West as officers worked to secure the area and conduct an investigation. The shelter-in-place alert was lifted shortly after 12:00 a.m., once police determined there was no longer an immediate safety concern.
Burnsville officials emphasized that the investigation remains active. Based on preliminary information, police say there is no indication the shooting was random, and there is no information at this time suggesting an ongoing threat to the public.
Authorities have not released details regarding a suspect, possible motive, or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
