Three Identified in Inver Grove Heights Death Investigation; Police Say Incident Was Double Murder-Suicide
INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA - Authorities have identified the three people who died in an Inver Grove Heights residence, with police saying preliminary findings indicate the incident was a double murder-suicide.
The incident occurred at a residence in the 3200 block of 78th Street East in Inver Grove Heights.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the three individuals as Jamie Lee Charles, 43; Jaymison Samuel Shaw, 22; and Willie Samuel Shaw Jr., 19. All three were residents of Inver Grove Heights.
According to a Sept. 1 update from the Inver Grove Heights Police Department, the investigation remains ongoing.
Police said preliminary findings indicate the incident was a double murder-suicide. Based on the investigation to date, authorities said the incident appears to have been contained within the residence and Jaymison Shaw has been identified as the suspect.
Police did not provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths in Monday’s update.
“This is a deeply tragic and heartbreaking event,” the department said, adding that it recognizes the profound grief the incident has caused for the family, loved ones and community.
The department also acknowledged the emotional impact incidents like this can have on responding officers, dispatchers, emergency personnel and others who worked at the scene.
Fundraiser Established for Family
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to assist the family with funeral and memorial expenses following the deaths of Jamie, Willie Jr. and Jaymison.
According to the fundraiser, donations will go toward funeral and memorial expenses, transportation and other necessary costs related to their final arrangements. Patricia Charles, Jamie’s mother and the grandmother of Willie Jr. and Jaymison, is listed as the beneficiary.
