La Merced Super Mercado to Host Family Fun Day and Community Fundraiser in South St. Paul

SOUTH ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA – La Merced Super Mercado is inviting community members to come together later this month for a Family Fun Day and Community Fundraiser to support the locally owned grocery store as it navigates ongoing challenges following Operation Metro Surge.
The all-day event is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the South St. Paul market. Organizers say the fundraiser will feature a wide range of family-friendly activities, food, music, and entertainment while also highlighting local vendors and artisans.
According to organizers, attendees can expect live music, raffle prizes, face painting, games, a mechanical bull, community craft sales, and additional activities throughout the day. Food and beverages will also be available as part of the celebration. The event is designed not only as a fundraiser, but also as a community gathering intended to support one of South St. Paul’s longtime local businesses.
“This event is about more than just fun—it’s about community,” Kenya of La Merced Super Mercado said in a statement. “We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve already received, and this fundraiser is an opportunity to come together, celebrate, and help sustain a business that means so much to South St. Paul.”
Organizers said proceeds from the event will go directly toward helping the business continue operations and remain a part of the local economy.
La Merced Super Mercado has served the South St. Paul community by offering authentic and culturally rich grocery products, fresh foods, and a welcoming space for residents and families. Like many small businesses, the store has faced operational and economic challenges in recent months.
In addition to entertainment and food, the event will also showcase local makers and community craft vendors, giving attendees an opportunity to purchase handmade goods while supporting neighborhood artisans and entrepreneurs.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and bring family and friends to support the event.
