LAKEVILLE, MN - UPDATE: A 24-year-old Lakeville man is facing three felony charges, including two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping, following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that prompted a large police and SWAT response Sunday night.
According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Dakota County District Court, Logan Wayne Davis, 24, is accused of physically assaulting, threatening, and sexually assaulting a woman inside his residence in the 17300 block of Greentree Path during the early morning hours of Sunday, October 11, 20260 The complaint alleges Davis repeatedly prevented the woman from leaving, struck her with multiple objects, threatened to kill her and her family, and sexually assaulted her while she was being held against her will.
According to court documents, the woman eventually escaped after Davis fell asleep and reported the incident to his mother. The allegations led Lakeville Police to request assistance from the South Metro SWAT Team, which executed search and arrest warrants at Davis' residence Sunday evening. The operation prompted a shelter-in-place alert for nearby residents and ended with Davis being taken into custody without injuries during the police operation.
Dakota County prosecutors have requested bail of $500,000 without conditions or $300,000 with conditions.
Criminal Complaint Details Alleged Assault Beginning Early Sunday Morning
According to the statement of probable cause, Lakeville Police received a report of a sexual assault on Sunday, October 11th, 2026 involving a woman who identified Davis as the alleged attacker. The woman told investigators that Davis picked her up from a friend's residence at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday and drove her to his home in Lakeville.
The two were spending time together drinking inside a closet at the residence when Davis allegedly made a sexual comment toward the woman. According to the complaint, the woman became uncomfortable and attempted to leave the closet several times. Each time, Davis allegedly moved her hand away from the door handle or physically blocked her path.
The woman eventually left the closet, retrieved her purse, and began walking upstairs. However, as she reached the top of the stairs, Davis allegedly grabbed her hair, covered her mouth, and instructed her not to scream. The complaint states that Davis then forced the woman back downstairs into his bedroom, where he shut and locked the door before repeatedly striking her in the face.
Prosecutors Allege Woman Was Threatened, Beaten and Held Against Her Will
According to the criminal complaint, Davis subsequently forced the woman back into the closet and threw her cellphone out a window, preventing her from readily contacting anyone for assistance. The woman reported that Davis repeatedly struck her with a belt and threatened to kill both her and members of her family.
Investigators documented allegations that Davis referenced serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and described several ways he wanted to kill the woman, including suffocating, shooting, and dismembering her. The complaint alleges Davis attempted to choke the woman while discussing suffocation. The woman also reported that Davis had what appeared to be a firearm inside the closet and struck her in the face with it, causing pain and making her cry.
At another point during the incident, Davis allegedly struck the woman in the back of the head with an alcohol bottle. According to prosecutors, the woman reported that Davis would strike her with the belt whenever she attempted to speak. The complaint describes a prolonged series of threats and physical violence that prosecutors allege prevented the woman from leaving the residence.
Woman Reports Sexual Assault Before Escaping Residence
The criminal complaint alleges that Davis subsequently forced the woman to engage in sexual activity against her will. According to the woman's account to investigators, Davis physically controlled her movements during the alleged sexual assault and continued despite her distress. The woman reported crying during the assault. At some point afterward, Davis fell asleep, providing the woman an opportunity to escape.
According to court documents, the woman took the gun that Davis had possessed, ran upstairs, and informed Davis' mother about what had happened. The complaint states that Davis' mother retrieved the woman's cellphone from outside the residence and subsequently drove her to a friend's house. The woman later reported the incident to law enforcement.
Investigators Document Injuries, Recover Replica Firearm
Law enforcement officers documented several visible injuries to the woman during their investigation. According to the complaint, officers observed an abrasion on her scalp, a bump on her head, redness and swelling around her right eye, a red mark on her neck, and bruising on her legs. These injuries were documented as part of the investigation into the reported physical and sexual assaults.
During the execution of a search warrant at Davis' residence, investigators recovered a replica .45-caliber gun, according to the criminal complaint. Although the woman reported being threatened and struck with what appeared to be a firearm, the complaint identifies the recovered weapon as a replica.
The documents do not specify whether investigators recovered additional weapons or evidence.
SWAT Team Executes Search and Arrest Warrants Sunday Evening
The investigation led to a significant law enforcement operation at Davis' residence Sunday night. In a statement provided to Limitless Media News on Monday, October 12, Lakeville Police Chief Bradley Paulson confirmed that officers executed both search and arrest warrants at a residence in the 17300 block of Greentree Path. The chief explained that the operation was connected to an investigation into a reported assault involving a firearm earlier in the weekend. Based on the information investigators received when the assault was reported, Lakeville Police requested tactical assistance from the South Metro SWAT Team.
Around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Limitless Media News began receiving several tips from residents reporting a large police presence and SWAT activity near Greentree Path and Glencoe Avenue. Limitless Media News responded to the scene and spoke with witnesses who indicated that police activity began around 9:15 p.m.
Personnel from multiple agencies were observed at the scene, including the Lakeville Police Department, South Metro SWAT Team, Dakota County Sheriff's Office, and Farmington Police Department.
Shelter-in-Place Alert Issued for Nearby Residents
At approximately 10:25 p.m., law enforcement issued a shelter-in-place alert for a small residential area surrounding the target residence. Chief Paulson confirmed that the alert covered an approximately 0.15-mile radius around the home and was intended to keep uninvolved residents inside their homes and away from the immediate area so officers could focus on the warrant operation.
The shelter-in-place alert remained active for approximately one hour and 25 minutes before being lifted around 11:50 p.m.
Dakota County Jail records indicate Lakeville Police arrested Davis at approximately 11:43 p.m. Sunday. The chief confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody without physical harm to anyone involved in the police operation. Davis was subsequently booked into the Dakota County Jail at approximately 2:26 a.m. Monday, October 12th.

Prosecutors Request Up to $500,000 Bail
In a prosecution recommendation dated October 13th, the Dakota County Attorney's Office requested bail of $500,000 without conditions or $300,000 with conditions. Under the proposed conditional bail arrangement, prosecutors requested several restrictions, including:
No contact with the alleged victim and exclusion from her residence and the surrounding quarter-mile area.
No possession or use of firearms, ammunition, explosives, or dangerous weapons, including surrendering weapons and not residing in a home where firearms are present.
Electronic home monitoring with alcohol-sensor monitoring.
No use or possession of alcohol or controlled substances, along with random chemical testing.
No travel outside Minnesota without written court approval.
