Published: July 22nd, 2026.

EMPIRE MN: The City of Empire is warning residents after receiving several reports of fishing line being intentionally strung across playground equipment at Sach's Park.

According to the City, officials are aware of the issue and are working with the Dakota County Sheriff's Office to increase patrols in the area. Warning signs will also be posted at the playground entrance reminding visitors to use caution.

City officials are urging the public not to touch or remove any fishing line if it is found on the playground equipment. Instead, they ask residents to avoid using the equipment and call 911 immediately.

Officials said contacting law enforcement allows deputies to respond, photograph the scene, and properly document the incident as part of the investigation.

Residents are also encouraged to call 911 if they observe any suspicious activity near the playground.

The City thanked community members who have reported the incidents and helped bring the issue to officials' attention.
