Man Charged With 5th-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct in Washington County Case Involving Child

WASHINGTON COUNTY: A 72-year-old Mahtomedi man has been charged with fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct following an alleged incident involving a child, according to a criminal complaint filed in Washington County.

Deputies were called to a residence in Mahtomedi on March 15, 2026, for a report of a possible assault. The home is described in the complaint as a duplex, with the reporting party living on the main level and the suspect in an upper unit.

According to the complaint, Daniel Steven O’Hara (DOB: 02/13/1954) was with a child when the alleged incident occurred. The complaint alleges O’Hara engaged in conduct that led to the fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct — lewd exhibition/masturbation with a minor under 16 present charge. Deputies later spoke with O’Hara, who confirmed he had been alone with the child and that they had been playing cards. He also acknowledged undergoing a recent medical procedure. O’Hara denied the allegations.

The case remains pending in Washington County District Court. Charges are allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
