Man Charged With Felony Theft After Allegedly Stealing More Than $3,000 From Target Registers

WEST SAINT PAUL MN: A man has been charged with felony theft in Dakota County after authorities allege he stole more than $3,000 from Target registers while working at the store.
Gregory Simon Starks, 65, is charged with one count of theft of more than $1,000 but not more than $5,000, according to a Dakota County criminal complaint.
According to the complaint, a West St. Paul police officer was contacted by a Target loss prevention employee on Aug. 7 regarding an internal investigation involving Starks.
Loss prevention reported that Starks was suspected of taking money from registers while working between July 12 and Aug. 4.
Police obtained surveillance video of the alleged incidents. The complaint states the footage showed Starks taking money from a register. After reviewing the surveillance video and store records, police calculated the total alleged loss at $3,189.
An officer later went to the Target while Starks was working and arrested him, according to the complaint.
Starks is charged with felony theft under Minnesota law. The charge carries a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
The allegations contained in the criminal complaint have not been proven in court, and Starks is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
