HOPKINS: - A 27-year-old man who was charged on October 19th, 2026, in connection with an alleged drive-by shooting in Minneapolis is now facing two additional felony drug charges after investigators reportedly discovered more than two pounds of cocaine inside a vehicle in Hopkins, according to a Hennepin County criminal complaint.

Faisal Hassan Sheikh, 27, has been charged with first-degree controlled substance sale and first-degree controlled substance possession following an investigation into suspected drug and firearm trafficking between Minnesota and South Dakota.

Sheikh was previously charged on October 19 with felony dangerous weapons – drive-by shooting toward a person, stemming from an alleged August 15, 2026, incident in Minneapolis. That charge is part of a separate criminal case.

According to the latest criminal complaint, investigators had been conducting an ongoing investigation into Sheikh throughout October 2026 involving suspected criminal activity, including possible drug and firearm trafficking.

On October 16, 2026, investigators reportedly observed Sheikh sitting in the driver's seat of a white Acura outside his residence in Hopkins.

After Sheikh left the residence, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested him in connection with an unrelated investigation. The vehicle was subsequently impounded, towed and searched.

During the search, investigators allegedly discovered a large quantity of suspected narcotics concealed in the trunk beneath a removable hard cloth covering used for additional storage.

According to court documents, the substances were contained inside a tightly wrapped green package bearing the word "Cobra."

Investigators reported that testing of the package's exterior returned positive results for fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. The complaint states that the package contained approximately 1,043 grams, or 2.3 pounds, of cocaine.

Authorities noted that Sheikh was the vehicle's sole occupant and that investigators had not observed anyone else entering or exiting the vehicle.

Sheikh faces two felony charges under Minnesota Statute 152.021, including first-degree controlled substance sale involving 17 grams or more of cocaine and first-degree possession involving 50 grams or more of cocaine.

Each drug charge carries a maximum potential sentence of 40 years in prison under the penalty provisions cited in the complaint.

According to the criminal complaint, Sheikh remains in custody.

The allegations involving the suspected cocaine and the previously filed drive-by shooting charge are separate criminal matters. The complaints do not establish that the alleged offenses are connected.

All charges are allegations, and Sheikh is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
