Man Dies After Overnight Shooting in South Minneapolis; Investigation Underway

MINNEAPOLIS: A man died after an overnight shooting in south Minneapolis, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers from the Third Precinct responded at approximately 1:00 a.m. Sunday to the 2400 block of Bloomington Avenue after a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 callers reported a man lying on the ground outside.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered medical aid before the victim was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare. Despite lifesaving efforts, he died at the hospital.
Police said officers secured the scene and canvassed the area, where investigators located evidence of gunfire. A firearm was also recovered next to the man who died.
Minneapolis Police Department Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.
Homicide investigators are working to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the shooting. No arrests have been announced.
The case remains under investigation under MPD incident number 26-177188.
