Man Dies After Shooting in Northeast Minneapolis Apartment Building; Police Investigating

MINNEAPOLIS MN - Minneapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead after he was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside an apartment building in Northeast Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), officers responded to a reported shooting at approximately 5:40 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Broadway Street Northeast.

Upon arrival, officers located a man lying in a stairwell of an apartment building with at least one apparent life-threatening gunshot wound.

Officers immediately provided medical assistance until emergency medical personnel transported the man to Hennepin Healthcare. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man died at the hospital.

Preliminary information suggests that an argument may have escalated into gunfire, although investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the surrounding area, while MPD forensic scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.

Homicide investigators are working to establish the sequence of events that led to the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and police have not released additional information about the victim or any potential suspects.
