Man Shot and Killed in Overnight Shooting on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS: Police are investigating an overnight shooting in Minneapolis that left one man dead early Saturday morning.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers from the Fifth Precinct responded to reports of a shooting around 1:30 a.m. on March 14 in the 2300 block of Hennepin Avenue South.
When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers began providing medical aid, including CPR, before the victim was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died.
Preliminary information indicates the man had been in a parking lot with a group of people when gunfire erupted from outside the group, striking him.
Police say investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting. Minneapolis forensic scientists also responded to the scene to collect evidence.
No arrests have been made as of Saturday.
“Gun violence devastates families and traumatizes communities, and tonight it took the life of a man,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “We will do everything we can to bring those responsible for this senseless violence to justice.”
