TWIN CITIES, MN: With the November 3rd general election approaching, Limitless Media had the opportunity to speak with Matt Little, the former Lakeville mayor and Minnesota state senator who is currently running for Congress in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District.
During the interview Tuesday, we asked Little several questions about issues affecting residents in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, including fraud, public safety, healthcare and affordability. Limitless Media also reached out to his opponent, State Senator Eric Pratt and plan on speaking with him soon.
Little previously served on the Lakeville City Council before becoming mayor and later serving in the Minnesota Senate. Asked whether he had always wanted to hold elected office, Little recalled wanting to become governor of Minnesota when he was a child.
We asked Little about fraud involving taxpayer-funded programs in Minnesota and what he would do at the federal level to protect taxpayer dollars and strengthen government oversight. He discussed expanding federal anti-fraud oversight and increasing accountability for private contractors receiving government funding, measures he has emphasized during his congressional campaign.
Little also raised concerns about President Donald Trump's administration, including questions surrounding potential conflicts of interest, stock trading activity and allegations of misconduct involving administration officials. When asked whether he would seek to impeach Trump if elected to Congress, Little identified the war involving Iran and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as among some of the first matters he would seek to address. Congressional oversight could include investigations, hearings and subpoenas to obtain documents or testimony from administration officials.
We also asked Little about public safety in Minnesota, where crime has declined in recent years but serious violent crimes continue to occur. He said he would continue supporting local law enforcement and public safety if elected to Congress, while distinguishing his views on local police agencies from his position on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Little also pointed to his work in the Minnesota Senate, where he co-authored legislation supporting the development of the SMART Center, a regional public safety training facility in Dakota County.
On healthcare, Little was asked about federal Medicaid work requirements scheduled to begin in 2027 and their potential impact on vulnerable residents, including people struggling with mental health conditions and substance use disorders. Little expressed support for Medicare for All and raised concerns about the work requirements, pointing out that jobs are not readily available everywhere. He also questioned whether policymakers responsible for such requirements understand the circumstances faced by people who depend on Medicaid. Little has been actively campaigning in support of Medicare for All.
Asked what concerns he has heard from residents while door-knocking throughout the district, Little identified affordability as a major issue among voters.
Little was also asked whether he considers politics a swamp, given his experience serving in both local and state government. He acknowledged witnessing what he described as disgusting behavior, selfishness and the influence of money in politics. However, Little said he has also witnessed kindness, altruism and people working to improve the lives of others through public service.
Little, a Democrat, faces Republican State Senator Eric Pratt in the November 3 general election for Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District.
