Minneapolis Resident Charged With Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct in Dakota County

HASTINGS MN: A Minneapolis man is facing multiple felony charges in Dakota County District Court following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in late January.
According to a formal criminal complaint filed by prosecutors under Control #26000096, Michael Dakota Brickson, a resident of Minneapolis, faces two felony counts.
In the first count, prosecutors charged Brickson with third-degree criminal sexual conduct under Minnesota Statute § 609.344, subdivision 1a(b), referencing subdivision 2(1). The state alleges that on or about January 28 to January 29, 2026, within Dakota County, Brickson engaged in sexual penetration with a victim between 14 and 15 years of age while being more than 24 months older than the victim. As a felony offense, this charge carries a statutory maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison, a fine ranging from $9,000 to $30,000, or both.
In the second count, prosecutors charged Brickson with fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving nonconsensual penetration under Minnesota Statute § 609.3451, subdivision 1, referencing subdivision 3(a). The complaint alleges that during the same late-January timeframe in Dakota County, Brickson engaged in nonconsensual sexual penetration. This felony charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 2 years in prison, a fine ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, or both.
