Missing New Prague Man Found Dead in Rural Nicollet County

SCOTT COUNTY & NICOLLET, MN: A 53-year-old New Prague man who had been the subject of a missing person alert has been found dead in rural Nicollet County, according to the New Prague Police Department. New Prague Police announced Tuesday, August 11, 2026 that Daniel Labelle, 53, who had been reported missing from New Prague, was found deceased in rural Nicollet County.
The circumstances surrounding Labelle’s death remain under investigation, and authorities said no additional details are being released at this time.
Police emphasized that the investigation remains active but said there is no threat to the public related to Labelle’s death or the investigation.
Labelle Had Been Missing Since Sunday
The discovery comes after authorities asked for the public’s assistance in locating Labelle, who was last seen on Sunday, August 9, 2026 near the 700 block of North Third Street in New Prague. At the time of the missing person alert, police said Labelle was believed to be driving a gray 2015 Toyota Camry with Minnesota license plate NXA334.
Labelle was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and approximately 150 pounds, with brown-and-gray hair and brown eyes.
The New Prague Police Department had asked anyone who had seen Labelle, his vehicle, or had information regarding his whereabouts to contact investigators.
Police Thank Community for Assistance
In Tuesday's update, New Prague Police Chief Tim Applen extended the department's condolences to Labelle's family and friends.
The department also thanked members of the community, assisting agencies and others who provided information or helped with the search.

Authorities have not released information about where in rural Nicollet County Labelle was located, when he was found, or the circumstances that led investigators to the area.
The investigation into his death remains ongoing. No further information was immediately available Tuesday.
