Update: $5,000 Reward and Search Efforts Planned for Missing New Richmond Man

Authorities and community members continue to search for Wayne Storch, who has been missing since September 18, 2025. In a new development, a $5,000 reward is now being offered to anyone who provides information that helps bring Storch home.

Additionally, volunteers are organizing a large-scale search effort, scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, September 30, 2025, at the Pike Mountain Lake Trailhead, around 11.6 miles north of Grand Marais, Minnesota, along the Gunflint Trail. Law enforcement you will reportedly be able to see law enforcement on scene on the left-hand side of the trail/road.

Organizers are urging participants to come prepared for rugged and potentially hazardous conditions. Recommended items include:

  • High-visibility clothing (especially important during hunting season)

  • Mud boots and long sleeves for navigating wet and wooded terrain

  • Bug spray

  • Compass and a way to track your path to avoid getting lost

  • Water and high-carb snacks for energy and hydration


ORIGINAL STORY - NEW RICHMOND, WISCONSIN - The New Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing and endangered man, identified as Wayne Storch, who has not been seen since Thursday, September 18.

According to the New Richmond Police Department, Storch may be traveling in a gray 2020 Ford Escape with Wisconsin registration ATT-4935. The vehicle is distinguishable by a United States Marine Corps sticker displayed on its rear.

Police have not released details regarding the circumstances of Storch’s disappearance, but are treating the case as a missing and endangered person investigation, emphasizing the urgency of locating him. Members of the family tell us that he might be in northern Minnesota.

Authorities are urging anyone who sees Storch or his vehicle to contact local law enforcement immediately. Officials stress that community awareness is vital in these situations, as timely tips can make a critical difference in ensuring a safe recovery.

The New Richmond Police Department continues to investigate and has not released additional information at this time.
