Dakota County Parks Announces Full Lineup of August Programs and Outdoor Activities

DAKOTA COUNTY: Dakota County Parks is kicking off August with a full calendar of outdoor programs, fitness classes, family activities, and nature experiences designed to help residents make the most of the final weeks of summer.
The August lineup includes opportunities for all ages, from yoga and tai chi to kayaking, biking, live music, and guided nature programs. Some events are free, while others require advance registration.
Highlights include:
Yoga in the Park at Lebanon Hills Retreat Center on Aug. 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 6–7 p.m., featuring nature-inspired classes led by Yoga Sanctuary. Registration is required.
Learn to Kayak on Aug. 4 from 6–9 p.m. at Lebanon Hills Holland Lake, where participants will learn paddling techniques, safety, and kayak handling. Registration is required.
Forever Wild Family Friday: Fantastic Fireflies on Aug. 7 from 6–7:30 p.m. at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center, offering families the chance to learn about and observe fireflies. The event is free and open to all ages.
Outdoor Tai Chi & Qigong on Aug. 9 from 9–10:30 a.m. at Lebanon Hills Retreat Center. Registration is required.
How to Ride a Bike for Kids on Aug. 16 and 30, with sessions from 10 a.m.–noon and 1–3 p.m., helping children build confidence and riding skills on their own recently tuned bicycles. Registration is required.
Natural Dyes of Summer on Aug. 18 from 5:30–8 p.m. at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center, where participants will learn to create natural dyes from plants and take home a dyed textile. Registration is required.
Naturalist Nights: Prairie Plants on Aug. 20 from 7:30–9 p.m. at Lebanon Hills Regional Park. This free program for ages 8 and older explores the important role prairie plants play in supporting pollinators and wildlife.
Music in the Park on Aug. 25 from 5–7 p.m. at the Whitetail Woods Amphitheater, featuring K-Libre, performing merengue and salsa music. The concert is free and open to all ages and abilities.
Pollinator Plant Walk on Aug. 26 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Lebanon Hills Holland Lake, where attendees will learn to identify native plants and discover species suitable for home gardens. Registration is required.
