North Dakota Man Sentenced to One Year in Jail Following Scott County Convictions

Published: June 1st, 2026

SAVAGE MN: A North Dakota man has been sentenced to one year in jail after being convicted in Scott County of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child under the age of 14 and a child sexual abuse material-related offense.

According to a Scott County warrant of commitment, 20-year-old Mohamed Ahmedek Shugri was convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and use of a minor in a sexual performance or child sexual abuse material involving a victim younger than 14.

Court records indicate the offenses occurred on or about July 31, 2025, in Savage.

On May 18, 2026, a judge imposed a 144-month (12-year) prison sentence for the first-degree criminal sexual conduct conviction and a 77-month prison sentence for the child sexual abuse material-related conviction. However, both prison sentences were stayed as part of a downward dispositional departure.

Instead, Shugri was ordered to serve 364 days in the Scott County Jail, with eligibility for work release if approved. Court records indicate he received credit for nine days already served. The sentencing order states that after serving 180 days, he may be eligible for treatment-related furloughs if participating in outpatient treatment.

Court records indicate the sentence also includes supervised probation and other court-ordered conditions.

Because the prison terms were stayed, Shugri could be ordered to serve the underlying prison sentences if he violates the conditions imposed by the court.

Court records identify Shugri as a resident of North Dakota.

The case was prosecuted in Scott County District Court, with sentencing taking place May 18, 2026.
