BLOOMINGTON, MN: One person was hospitalized with a gunshot wound that was allegedly to the leg Wednesday afternoon after multiple reports of shots fired in Bloomington, according to police.
The Bloomington Police Department said officers responded around 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, to the area of American Boulevard and 30th Avenue South, outside the Carbon31 Apartments, following multiple reports of gunfire. Police said officers, with assistance from surrounding law enforcement agencies, including Edina Police, Richfield Police, and Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, worked to contain the crime scene. Officers detained multiple people while investigating the incident.
Law enforcement has confirmed that one victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the lower body. A witness who saw the shooting occur said that the gunshot appeared to be to the leg. Police described the injury as non-life-threatening. We are working to confirm additional information from witnesses and will provide those details once we can confirm them. We can confirm that the suspect vehicle that a witness told Limitless Media News they saw flee the scene of the shooting was found crashed in the median of American Blvd East behind the SICK, Inc building just before 24th Avenue South.
While at the scene, Limitless Media News observed officers searching the trash bins and surrounding areas between the SICK, Inc building and Winstead Way for items that might have been thrown out or ditched by a fleeing shooting suspect. It is unclear what those items were.
Authorities said they had contained the perimeter and believed there was no longer a danger to the public. Around 3:15 PM, Limitless Media saw police detaining an individual within the HealthPartners complex off of 31st Avenue South and East Old Shakopee Road. It is unknown at this time whether this person was connected to this incident. We are working to confirm those details as well.
Police have not released additional information about what led up to the shooting or whether any of the people detained have been arrested or are expected to face charges. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is expected as it becomes available.
