Plymouth Man Charged with Six Counts of Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material

HENNEPIN COUNTY: A Plymouth man is facing multiple felony charges in Hennepin County District Court after authorities alleged he was in possession of child sexual abuse material on electronic storage media earlier this year.
Michael James Ross, of Plymouth, Minnesota, has been charged with six count of possessing child sexual abuse material stored on a computer disk, electronic, magnetic, or optical image device, according to official court documents.
According to the criminal complaint filed by prosecutors, the offenses occurred on or about March 17, 2026, in the city of Plymouth. Investigators allege that Ross knowingly, or with reason to know its content and character, possessed digital media or storage systems containing material depicting child sexual abuse involving a minor, as defined under Minnesota Statute § 617.246, Subd. 1(f)(1) and (2).
Each of the six counts is charged as a felony under Minnesota Statute § 617.247, Subd. 4(a).
If convicted on any single count, Ross faces a statutory maximum penalty of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000, and a mandatory term of conditional release.
As with all criminal charges, a criminal complaint contains allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
