Ramsey County Deputy Charged in Washington County After Alleged Online Sexual Communications With Undercover Officer Posing as Child

WASHINGTON COUNTY: A Ramsey County deputy has been charged in Washington County with two felony counts alleging he engaged in sexually explicit online communications with someone he believed was a child under the age of 16, according to a criminal complaint filed in Washington County District Court.
CHADD WILLIAM MUELLNER, DOB July 2, 1991, is charged with two counts of engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child under Minnesota Statute 609.352.2a(2). Each felony charge carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
According to the complaint, the alleged offenses occurred on or about March 26, 2026. Court records allege Muellner, who was over the age of 18, used the internet or a computer network to engage in communications relating to or describing sexual conduct with someone he believed was a child 15 years old or younger.
The complaint states the person Muellner communicated with was actually an undercover officer posing as a child.
Court records further allege the communications were made with the intent to arouse the sexual desire of a person. The complaint lists two separate felony counts tied to the alleged online communications.
The case remains pending in Washington County District Court.
Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
