Police Investigate Fatal Shooting After Reports of Man Dragging Body From Apartment

RICHFIELD MN: Richfield police are investigating a fatal shooting after residents reported seeing a man dragging what appeared to be a dead body from an apartment early Saturday morning.

According to the Richfield Police Department, officers received multiple 911 calls at approximately 3:12 a.m. on December 13, 2025, from residents in the 7600 block of Knox Avenue South. Callers reported that a male was dragging a body out of an apartment and loading it into a vehicle, police said.

Police reported that an officer in the area observed the vehicle leaving the scene and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop, and a brief pursuit followed, according to authorities. The vehicle ultimately stopped at the emergency room entrance of M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.

According to police, the adult male driver exited the vehicle, and officers located an unconscious 23-year-old woman in the back seat who had suffered a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, the woman died from her injuries, police said.

The adult male driver was taken into custody without incident, according to authorities. No additional injuries were reported.

Police said the incident remains under active investigation, and no further details were released.
