ROSEVILLE MN: A threatening situation involving a firearm at a Roseville apartment building ended peacefully after a coordinated response from police, SWAT operators, and crisis negotiators.
According to the Roseville Police Department, officers responded to a report of an assault involving a firearm at an apartment building a couple nights ago. When officers arrived, they attempted to get the suspect to exit the apartment.
Police say the suspect briefly appeared at the door but then retreated back inside. Out of an abundance of caution, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was called in to assist.
Crisis negotiators worked with the suspect and were ultimately able to orchestrate a peaceful surrender. No one was injured during the incident.
After taking the suspect into custody, officers recovered an AR-platform firearm inside the apartment. Authorities say the weapon had an unreadable serial number and had been altered and painted to resemble a toy.
The suspect has since been charged in connection with the incident. Bail was set at $150,000.
Police credited the resident who safely left the situation and contacted authorities, as well as the coordinated work of responding officers, SWAT personnel, and negotiators for bringing the incident to a safe resolution.
