41-Year-Old Isanti Man Arrested in Roseville Kidnapping, Assault Investigation

ROSEVILLE MN - Roseville police arrested a 41-year-old Isanti man late Friday in connection with the reported kidnapping and assault of a woman earlier this week near County Road C and East Snelling Service Drive.
The man was arrested on Sept. 25 and is being held at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center on suspicion of multiple felony offenses, according to the Roseville Police Department. Formal charges had not yet been announced.
The investigation began after a woman reported that she was leaving a business near County Road C and East Snelling Service Drive at approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, when she was approached by an unknown masked man armed with a firearm.
Police previously said the woman was held captive for several hours before eventually being released on the east side of St. Paul. She was treated at a local hospital.
According to Roseville police, the woman did not know the suspect, and the reported attack occurred during the late afternoon in a busy area of the city.
Police said officers and detectives worked around the clock following leads, reviewing surveillance video and other evidence, conducting interviews, and working to identify and locate a suspect. Additional patrols were also deployed in the area during the investigation.
Roseville police received assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies.
“We take any report of violence in our community extremely seriously, and this case was no exception,” Roseville Police Chief Erika Scheider said. “Roseville is a safe and vibrant community and an incident like this is deeply concerning. I am incredibly proud of the work of our detectives, officers, and support staff who worked around the clock to move this case forward.”
Police said the investigation remains active and described it as extremely complex. Investigators expect to provide additional information early next week after the case is presented to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.
No additional details about the suspect or circumstances surrounding his arrest were immediately released.
The man has not been formally charged in connection with the case. Any allegations presented for charging are accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
