SAINT PAUL MN: A 20-year-old man faces a felony sexual assault charge in Ramsey County after prosecutors allege he used coercion against a minor over the weekend.
Brayan Jesus Chicas was formally charged in Ramsey County District Court with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 18 years of age.
The charge, brought under Minnesota Statute § 609.344, subdivision 1a(c), applies when a suspect engages in sexual penetration with a minor and uses threats, psychological pressure, or intimidation—defined legally as coercion—to carry out the act.
According to court records filed, the incident occurred on or about Saturday, August 29, 2026, within Ramsey County. Prosecutors state that Chicas engaged in sexual penetration with the underage victim after coercing them.
If convicted, Chicas faces up to 15 years in state prison, a $30,000 fine, or both.
The case remains active in Ramsey County District Court.
