Shakopee High School Teacher, Coach Ryan Eiler Dies Following Edina Crash

SHAKOPEE MN: Shakopee Public Schools has announced the death of Ryan Eiler, a teacher and coach at Shakopee High School – Academies of Shakopee.
According to information shared by the district, Eiler’s death was reported by the Minnesota State Patrol the evening of Sunday, April 26. The crash occurred in Edina.
Eiler joined the district in 2021 as a Health and Physical Education teacher at the high school. In March 2025, he also became an assistant coach for the boys sprint team.
Outside of his role in education, Eiler served as a member of the Army National Guard. He was a graduate of both University of St. Thomas and University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
District officials said support staff and members of the Crisis & Safety Committee will be onsite at the high school throughout the week. Resources are being made available to students and families, along with additional support from school counselors, psychologists, and administrators.
The district encouraged members of the school community to utilize available support services as they process the loss.
