ST. ANTHONY, MINNESOTA — Authorities have released new details regarding the early-morning incident that prompted a shelter-in-place order Saturday in St. Anthony, confirming it stemmed from a fatal stabbing at an apartment complex.

According to a press release from Chief Jeff Spiess of the St. Anthony Police Department, officers were called at approximately 5:01 a.m. on January 10, 2026, to the Equinox Apartments, located at 2812 Silver Lane, on a report of a stabbing in a hallway inside the building.

When officers arrived, they located one adult male deceased at the scene. A second victim, described as a juvenile male, was found with serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The current condition of the juvenile victim has not been released.

Initial witness reports indicated that the male suspect was believed to still be inside an apartment, prompting a significant law enforcement response. With assistance from Ramsey County SWAT, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. Those attempts were unsuccessful.

As the situation unfolded, investigators determined that the suspect had fled the scene before police arrived. Based on new information, authorities learned the suspect may have been traveling north of the Twin Cities metro area in a vehicle. A regional law enforcement alert was issued, leading to the suspect's location and subsequent arrest in the Duluth area.

Earlier this morning, residents in the 2800 block of Silver Lane were instructed to shelter in place due to the developing situation. That order was later lifted around 7:30 am once police confirmed there was no longer an active threat to the general public, though a heavy law enforcement presence remained as the investigation continued.

Police say this remains an active investigation, and additional information, including potential charges, the suspect's identity, and further details surrounding the incident, has not yet been released.

Limitless Media will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates when released by officials.
