SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA: A man accused of carjacking a woman at an intersection in St. Paul was taken into custody Monday morning following a dramatic pursuit that stretched from Saint Paul, Minnesota, into Hudson, Wisconsin, in western Wisconsin and ended after a foot chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

The incident began shortly before 9:45 a.m. when a carjacking was reported near Snelling Avenue and University Avenue in St. Paul. According to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, a woman in her 20s was sitting in her gray Mercedes-Benz GLK when a man approached, implied that he had a gun, and stole the SUV before fleeing eastbound.

Suspect Crashes During Escape

Investigators said the suspect's getaway was short-lived before he crashed into another vehicle. As the stolen Mercedes traveled east, authorities say the driver T-boned a van at Western Avenue and University Avenue, then fled the crash scene. The impact was significant enough to tear the front bumper from the Mercedes, leaving behind the vehicle's license plate and other identifying evidence.

Shortly afterward, St. Paul Police officers located the stolen SUV near Earl Street and Maryland Avenue, where an active pursuit began.

Pursuit Extends Into Wisconsin

The pursuit initially remained within St. Paul before moving onto I-94 eastbound. The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office took over as the primary pursuing agency as the suspect continued east through:

  • St. Paul

  • Maplewood

  • Landfall

  • Woodbury

  • Lakeland

The chase continued across the St. Croix River into Wisconsin, where additional agencies joined the response.

Assisting agencies included:

  • St. Paul Police Department

  • Ramsey County Sheriff's Office

  • Minnesota State Patrol

  • Minnesota State Air Patrol

  • Wisconsin State Patrol

  • St. Croix County Sheriff's Office

  • River Falls Police Department

Suspect Flees on Foot

After crossing into Wisconsin, the suspect pulled the stolen Mercedes onto the shoulder of I-94 near U.S. Highway 12 before abandoning the vehicle and running into a wooded area. Law enforcement quickly established a perimeter while deputies and K-9 teams searched the area.

Ramsey County Sheriff's Office K-9 handlers entered the woods alongside deputies from the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office and troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Authorities said the breakthrough came when a Wisconsin State Patrol drone located a person south of the search area.

Investigators determined the suspect had climbed over a fence and was walking along a nearby neighborhood trail. Wisconsin law enforcement officers then moved in and took the suspect into custody.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

At approximately 10:13 a.m., authorities confirmed the suspect had been located and arrested. The suspect is expected to be extradited back to Minnesota and booked into the Ramsey County Jail.

According to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, he is expected to face charges that include:

  • Carjacking involving an implied firearm

  • Hit-and-run

  • Fleeing law enforcement

  • Additional charges that may be filed as the investigation continues

Authorities said the suspect has refused to identify himself and has not been cooperating with investigators, making it difficult to immediately confirm his identity.

Investigation Continues

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office praised the coordinated efforts of the numerous agencies involved in bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion, highlighting the assistance provided by Wisconsin law enforcement after the suspect crossed state lines.

Officials also noted that this is not the first time the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office has assisted Ramsey County deputies in apprehending a suspect who fled into Wisconsin.

The investigation remains active, and additional information—including the suspect's identity and formal charges—is expected to be released once it becomes available.

Limitless Media News captured portions of the pursuit and will release their full video from the incident later today.
