Man Arrested Following Felony Theft at Target in Apple Valley

UPDATE: According to court documents, Lamb pleaded guilty to the theft charge and was given three years of supervised probation on March 21, 2024. A parole violation resulted in a resentencing, which led to a 45-day sentence in the Dakota County Jail, commencing on April 14, 2025. Court records show he did not appear, so a warrant was issued for his arrest on May 6, 2025. It seems that a warrant was executed, and he was arrested on June 10, 2025, in Ravenna Township. He is currently being held in the Dakota County Jail with no set bail.
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Officers with the Apple Valley Police Department responded to the Target in Apple Valley at around 8 PM on Sunday, January 7th, for the report of theft from the business.
According to the criminal complaint, 31-year-old Darryl Lamb entered the store and selected several items worth $1,144.91, leaving the store without paying for them. When the Lamb was approached by loss prevention, he abandoned the items and fled. Officers arrived on the scene and located an individual matching the description provided to them by loss prevention.
Officers used surveillance video to confirm Lamb was, in fact, the suspect, and he was taken into custody for theft. According to the complaint, Lamb was charged with Felony Theft (Over $1,000 up to $5,000), which comes with a 0 to 5-year sentence and/or a fine of $3,000 to $10,000. His bond was set at $3,000 without conditions and $1,000 with conditions. When this article was written, his bond had not been paid, and he remains in the Dakota County Jail. His next court appearance is on January 24, 2024, at 1:30 PM in Hastings, Minnesota.
