INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA - Three people were found dead inside an Inver Grove Heights residence early Sunday morning, prompting an investigation involving local police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Inver Grove Heights Police were called to a residence in the 3200 block of 78th Street East at approximately 12:20 a.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026, for a welfare check on an individual. According to a media release from the Inver Grove Heights Police Department, officers entered the residence and located three people deceased inside the home.
Police have not released information about what officers encountered upon arrival, how long the three people may have been inside the residence, or what circumstances prompted the welfare check. The identities and ages of those who died have also not been released.
BCA Assisting With Investigation
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting Inver Grove Heights Police with the investigation at the scene, according to the department. Authorities have not characterized the deaths as homicides or disclosed whether investigators are searching for a suspect. Police said, however, that there is currently no known threat to the public.
The circumstances surrounding the three deaths remain under investigation. The medical examiner is expected to release the identities of the deceased and determine their causes and manners of death. Those determinations could provide additional information about what occurred inside the residence.
