Vehicle Crashes Into West St. Paul Home, Garage Suffers Significant Structural Damage

WEST SAINT PAUL: A vehicle crashed into a home and attached garage in West St. Paul recently, causing extensive damage and prompting a multi-agency response to stabilize the structure, according to South Metro Fire.
Fire officials said the impact caused significant damage to the garage, destroyed the home's electrical meter, and compromised the structural integrity of the building.
Xcel Energy responded to the scene and quickly isolated power to the residence to help ensure the area was safe for emergency crews and the homeowner.
Because of the extent of the damage, South Metro Fire requested assistance from the Dakota County Special Operations Team. Working together, crews shored up the damaged garage to stabilize the structure and make the home safe for the homeowner until permanent repairs can be completed by contractors.
South Metro Fire also highlighted its partnership with the Dakota County Special Operations Team, noting that seven of its members serve on the specialized team. Their advanced training and expertise help provide technical rescue and structural stabilization resources to communities throughout Dakota County.
No information was released regarding injuries or the cause of the crash.
