WEST SAINT PAUL: - A 42-year-old woman is facing a felony attempted theft charge after allegedly attempting to leave a Target store in West St. Paul with more than $1,200 worth of unpaid merchandise, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court.

Keisha Deanean Dooley, born June 8, 1984, is accused of attempting to steal merchandise valued at $1,285.51 on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

According to the criminal complaint, West St. Paul police officers responded to a theft-in-progress report at approximately 6:27 p.m.

Store loss prevention employees reportedly observed Dooley concealing merchandise inside personal bags while shopping. The complaint alleges that Dooley then passed all points of sale without paying and attempted to exit the store before being stopped by employees.

The total value of the merchandise involved was $1,285.51, according to prosecutors.

Dooley has been charged with one felony count of attempted theft involving property valued at more than $1,000 but not more than $5,000, under Minnesota Statute 609.52, with reference to the state's attempt statute.

The charge carries a maximum potential sentence of two and a half years in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

The allegations against Dooley have not been proven in court. Dooley is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
