Incident Details

Court records state that at approximately 4:56 p.m. on Feb. 8, officers were dispatched to a residence in West St. Paul on a reported assault. The reporting party told police that a man wearing a ski mask entered his detached garage, pointed a gun directly at his chest without speaking, and then drove away.

The victim further reported that the suspect had fired at a vehicle parked inside the garage, shattering the windshield and leaving a visible hole. Officers documented damage consistent with gunfire and obtained a description of both the suspect’s clothing and the vehicle used to flee the scene.

Police Pursuit and Arrest

Shortly after the initial report, officers located a vehicle matching the description nearby and attempted a traffic stop using emergency lights and sirens. According to the complaint, the vehicle initially appeared to slow, then accelerated away before stopping.

Police removed the driver from the vehicle and identified him as Bazan Landin. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a BB gun and BB pellets.

Defendant’s Statement

Investigators say Bazan Landin later provided a Mirandized statement admitting to key elements of the incident. He told officers that a second individual had allegedly made threats toward a friend, prompting him to confront the situation.

According to the complaint, Bazan Landin admitted he wore a ski mask, entered the garage, and fired his BB gun into a vehicle parked inside, breaking two windows. He also acknowledged fleeing from a police vehicle after seeing its emergency lights activated before eventually pulling over and surrendering. Bazan Landin told officers the BB gun belonged to him.
