INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA - Fire crews responded Saturday afternoon to a reported garage fire at a home in the 8000 block of Cameo Circle, where quick action by firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading into the residence.
According to the Inver Grove Heights Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 3:42 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, for a fire in an attached garage. The initial call paged Inver Grove Heights Fire and Eagan Fire. Upon arrival, firefighters forced entry into the garage and found active fire conditions along the wall shared with the home, with fire extending into the rafters. This was upgraded to a second-alarm fire around 5:56 PM, with additional mutual aid from South Metro Fire.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames before they could spread further into the structure. Crews then removed portions of the insulation in the affected area to ensure there were no hidden fires, helping prevent the fire from spreading into the house's living space.
