SAINT PAUL MN: One person was critically injured in an overnight structure fire in Saint Paul early Saturday morning.

Saint Paul Fire Department crews were dispatched at approximately 12:36 a.m. to a reported fire in the 400 block of Summit Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found active fire conditions inside a large three-story residential building that contains multiple apartment and condominium units.

Crews quickly located the fire and brought it under control. Fire officials said the blaze was contained to the room and apartment where it originated, preventing further spread throughout the building.

One adult occupant was rescued from the building and transported by Saint Paul Fire Department EMS to a local hospital in critical condition. Firefighters conducted both primary and secondary searches and confirmed no additional occupants were inside at the time of the fire.

According to fire officials, all remaining units in the building are expected to remain habitable.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
