Eight Winona Police Flock Cameras Stolen After Poles Cut Down, Investigation Underway

WINONA MN: The Winona Police Department is investigating the theft of all eight of the city's Flock safety cameras after officers discovered they had been removed from their locations, according to a police press release.
Police said the thefts were discovered on Aug. 1, 2026, after an officer noticed there had been no recent activity from the cameras. Officers checked each camera location and found the poles had been cut near their bases. The cut poles were located nearby in the weeds, but the cameras themselves had been removed.
As of Aug. 4, authorities said the cameras had not been recovered.
The stolen cameras had been installed at four locations around the city:
Two near Highway 61 and Bundy Boulevard
Two near Highway 61 and Highway 14
Two near Highway 14 and Knopp Valley Drive
Two near Highway 43 and Homer Road
According to police, investigators believe the thefts occurred sometime between July 29 and Aug. 1.
The department estimates the replacement cost for each camera and pole at approximately $3,000, bringing the estimated total loss to about $24,000.
